Preparing Your House for the Market

INTERIOR

Clean the inside of the house thoroughly, in particular kitchen and bathroom areas.
|
|

Organize, or dispose of all unnecessary clutter.
|
|

|
Point up all drywall imperfections, and touch-up with matching paint. (If you think it needs to be painted, or touched-up, I guarantee a buyer will)
|
|

|
Replace all light bulbs that are not functioning.
|
|

|
If it’s supposed to function, and it’s not, fix it or replace it. (i.e. ceiling fans, light fixtures, appliances, window slide/ballast, etc.,etc.,etc..)

|

|
Place air fresheners or candles in areas that need a bit of freshness.
|
|

|
If Possible, purchase a small radio that can be turned on in advance of scheduled showings with soothing music.
|
|
EXTERIOR
|
|

|
Clean all glass surfaces, windows/doors/skylights, etc.
|
|

|
Power wash other exterior surfaces if deemed necessary. (ie. decks, siding, brick/stone accents, patios/sidewalks, etc..) Once again, if you think it needs to be done, I guarantee a buyer will also.

|
Weed and mulch all existing flower beds and landscaped areas.
|
|

|
Add annual flowers to landscaped areas that need brightening.
|
|

|
Replace mailbox if unsightly, straighten if leaning.
|
|

|
Grade, seed and mulch (with straw) all bare spots in the lawn.
|
|

|
Keep grass cut to 2-3”
|
|

|
Touch up paint all exterior surfaces with matching paint that needs attention.
|
|

|
If it’s broken, fix it or replace it (ie. siding, rotten wood, windows/doors, shutters, gutters/down spouts, etc..)
|
|

|
Re caulk all necessary areas.
|
